Privacy

This site collects as little as a website can. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter, no advertising, and it sets no cookies. What little processing happens is described here in full.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, your browser sends the request to Vercel’s servers, which process your IP address, the page requested, the time, and browser details in order to deliver the page and keep the service secure. Vercel keeps such logs for a short period. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Vercel processes data in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Analytics

I use Vercel Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It works without cookies and without tracking you across sites: page views are counted against a hashed, daily rotating identifier derived from your request, which cannot be traced back to you, and only aggregated figures are shown to me. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Video, fonts and files

The videos, fonts and the one-page PDF are served from this site itself, not from YouTube, Google Fonts or another third party, so playing or downloading them sends no data anywhere else.

Contacting me

If you email me, I use your name, address and message to reply and to keep the conversation. I keep the correspondence as long as the conversation is live and for as long as I have to under the law. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to you, or the steps leading to a contract where that applies (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

Links to other sites

The site links to LinkedIn and to the publishers quoted under “In the public record”. Following a link is a request to that site, governed by its own privacy notice.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to the personal data I hold about you, for it to be corrected or deleted, for its processing to be restricted, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to the email address above. You can also complain to a supervisory authority; the one for Berlin is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
